The Network Solution Architect is responsible for implementing solutions in line with the telecommunications strategy and architecture (covering the Wide Area network, Enterprise communications, data centre infrastructure, depot and office communications infrastructure and operational support systems but excluding Substation LAN and Last Mile access/Field Access Network). The role provides solutions to deliver integrated communications solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Developing technical policies and standards governing the use of new and existing infrastructure.
- Capturing business requirements.
- Developing technical architectures and roadmaps for enterprise networks and technology domains.
- Communicating plans and architectures to internal stakeholders.
- Scope requirements for telecommunications solutions and document funding and resource requirements.
- Development and assessment of solution options.
- Developing technical design documentation such as network drawings, high and low level design documents, test plans, test reports and recommendations.
- Configuration of telecommunications and security platforms in a multi-vendor environment.
- Documentation of as-built configurations.
- Development and execution of test plans.
- Creating operating and maintenance procedures.
- Design communications solutions, leveraging existing telecommunications network.
- Specification of telecommunications & security architecture, and end to end logical design.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

- Degree qualifications in engineering, IT, computer science or similar discipline.
- Minimum of seven years experience in the design and deployment of large scale Enterprise and or Telco IP Networks.
- Demonstrated ability to lead senior technical staff in Matrix management teams.
- Advanced written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to negotiate, consult and persuade in a business and technical environment.
- Excellent technical and interpersonal skills are required to develop sound communications options.
- Ability to affect change through technical leadership.
- Well developed solution architect and technical skills across a broad range of communication and security technologies.
- Cisco Enterprise LAN architecture and design.
- Alcatel-Lucent IP MPLS architecture and design.
- IP Networking and addressing.
- Enterprise routing and switching.
- Firewall, load balancer technologies (F5 Unified communications; Video conferencing applications and architectures.
