KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Diagnose and restore complex issues with the network infrastructure operated by Data Centre Networks.
- Perform proactive problem management of IP Networks to remove "timebombs" and maximise availability.
- Develop and deliver technical training to colleagues within the team and for other workgroups.
- Ensure new platforms are integrated into the group according to the standard operational support processes.
- Liaise with vendors and Network Engineering groups to obtain assistance in resolving complex technical issues.
- Mentor trainees and provide a high level of technical assistance to the team.
- Ensure compliance to Change Management Guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with Security Guidelines.
- Develop efficiency improvements into tasks.
- Work closely with peers and workgroups within Hosting and Gateway Operations.

Key Requirements:

- 5 years+ experience in a 3rd level Network Operations role specifically supporting multi-tiered, firewalled and load balanced hosting networks.
- 5 years+ experience with each of the following technical skills:
- Strong Cisco L2/L3 switching, routing and product knowledge.
- Strong understanding of load balancing techniques, and hardware, namely F5 BigIP LTM & GTM.
- Strong understanding of Juniper routing & switching and product knowledge.
- Strong understanding of TCPIP networking concepts and protocols.
- Strong ability to logically troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Strong understanding of BGP routing protocols.
- Ability to perform packet captures and analysis network traces. (eg. Sniffer Pro, Ethereal)
- Experience in other networking technologies/protocols such as VPNs, PIX Firewalls, Netcaches, MPLS, Multicasting, VLANS/Spanning-tree. - Good understanding of server technologies, including virtual Servers, VMWare.
- Exposure or understanding of Cloud Computing concepts.
- Cisco Certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE etc).
- ITIL Foundations Certificate.
- A strong Customer focus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple time critical projects.
- Proactive work ethic.
- Available to work after hours as reasonably required, both for planned work and on-call support.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
