JOB TITLE: NETWORK SPECIALIST - CONTRACT POSITION
TERM: 3-4 Month Contract (Rolling)
LOCATION: South, Dublin
DEPARTMENT: Information Technology
NOTE: All candidates must be fully elibible to work freely in Ireland
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Successful candidate will work as part of the European Network & Telephony Infrastructure team on Network Production Support infrastructure incidents, problems and projects of diverse scope. They will be recommending solutions based on the analysis and interpretation of Network equipment, tools & diagnostics. They will also be involved in the implementation of new technologies into the production environment. As part of this team, they will be providing second and third line technical support to over 2000 staff in Ireland, UK and Germany.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Certification such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP or Checkpoint CCSA/CCSE (with a preference for CCNP)
- A third level qualification and/or certification in a technical area.
- 5-7 years experience in a technical support role in a multi-national company.
- Excellent working knowledge of Cisco LAN(Stackwise, 3750, 6509 & Nexus)
- Excellent working knowledge of Cisco WAN equipment.
- Knowledge of Cisco GET VPN technology would be of benefit.
- Knowledge of Checkpoint/Nokia Firewalls (IP 290 - IP 560, Nokia clustering, VRRP) would be of benefit.
- Excellent working knowledge of OSPF and VPN's (site to site and remote access).
- Content switching/F5 experience would be of benefit.
- Telephony/VOIP knowledge would be a distinct benefit also.
- Certification such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP or Checkpoint CCSA/CCSE.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- The ability to work as part of a team, to deadlines and on own initiative
- The ability to logically troubleshoot problems to a satisfactory resolution
- Working knowledge of ITIL
Responsibilities:
- Manage the Network support queue and ensure a specialist is assigned to calls
- Resolve Support calls within a Service Level Agreement
- Plans and leads implementation of Network systems into Production for Client.
- Work with peers across the enterprise to share knowledge and ensure consistent enterprise standards are maintained.
- Provides technical guidance regarding technology and proposed upgrades to equipment.
- Writes and maintains operating, maintenance and standards manuals for Network infrastructure.
- Troubleshoots and resolves day-to-day Network incidents.
- Manage short - Medium term projects to successful completion.
- Guides other analysts in troubleshooting, testing & monitoring equipment.
- Prioritises own work and provides some assistance to other analysts.
- Works on problem management cases to resolve on-going issues
- Manage all changes to defined Change Management Process.
- Manage availability and stability to defined metrics.
- Travel maybe required from time to time.
