Network Administrator

Our client is currently looking for a NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR to join our Canberra based Federal Government team to provide technical network expertise within one of our largest client projects.The Role:

The Network Administrator will be responsible for the provision of network maintenance and support services, with support provided both to users of the systems and to service delivery functions. Support typically takes the form of investigating and resolving incidents and providing information about the systems. It may also include monitoring their performance. Incidents may be resolved by providing advice or training to users about the network's functionality, correct operation or constraints, by devising workarounds, correcting faults, or making general or site-specific modifications.

The Network Administrator maintains the network support process and checks that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

- using network management software and tools to investigate and diagnose network problems, collect performance statistics and create reports, working with users, other staff and suppliers as appropriate.
- installing and configuring network based devices such as Switches, Routers, concentrators, network probes, WAN/Bandwidth Optimisers, Wireless, Voice Over IP.
- installing and configuring device configurations with regards to relevant network protocols, VLANs, IP addresses, IP Telephony, QoS, routing, security.
- performing system maintenance.
- participating in a shift roster.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

To be considered a suitable candidate for this position, you will be able to demonstrate at least 2 years experience within a network delivery environment in a large scale, highly secure environment.
