MS SQL Database Administrator

My client, a Lloyds underwriting business, that has been providing insurance for more than half a century currently has a contract opportunity for a SQL DBA based in Brentwood Essex. The core responsibilities will include providing operational database services to the organisation. Some of the primary responsibilities of this role would include:
* Implementing new and maintaining existing instances of SQL server
* Owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests, fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs
* Reviewing service related reports (e.g: database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs
* Supporting other IT professionals engaged in database development activities within the organisation.

In order to be considered for this vacancy candidates will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
* 3 years+ experience of In depth SQL Server Database Administration in MS SQL Server 2005, 2008, 2012
* Experience of the configuration and support of the MS BI components:
MS Integration Services (SSIS)
MS Analysis Services (SSAS)
MS Reporting Services (SSRS)
* Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.
* Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
* Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention.
* Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Clustering, Database mirroring, Replication.
* Strong knowledge of indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, patching. How statistics work, how indexes are stored, how they can be created and managed effectively.
* MCDBA certification would be an advantage
