Migration Consultant (m/f)

For our client in Munich we are currently looking for a

SAN MIGRATION CONSULTANT

Project duration: 2 - 5 years
Your tasks:
- Responsible for planning and migration of customer server and data from storage to storage
- Undertake full responsibility for migration of one or more set of customer servers, including application or service downtime scheduling, customer communications and technical validation of the proposed migration methodology
- Ensure the achievement of agreed migration objectives whilst maintaining customer satisfaction
- Establish and agree the migration process for each assigned group of servers
- Design, agree and execute a migration plan including scheduling of application/service downtime, roll-back and fall-back planning, post migration User Acceptance Testing in line with the clients' Migration Methodology
- Select and agree the most appropriate data migration technique based on customer requirements and overall customer objectives
- Work with customer technical resources (System admins, DBAs etc) to ensure smooth migration with minimum disruption to customer application or service
- Work with customer change processes and tools to ensure that migration changes are approved and recorded in line with agreed project standards
- Overall, ensure that all completion milestones are achieved, obtaining customer signoff and acceptance certification
- Report progress to both the end customer and customer line management, ensuring a sound, comprehensive status is reported and all issues, risks and exposure are highlighted in a timely and effective manner
- Manage or participate in any post-project reviews, and report on lessons learned as part of clients' process improvement
- Communicate with the Resourcing Manager to ensure that all projects are recorded and managed using the clients' software - including project definition, deliverables, time, expense and third party costs. Ensure budgeted and planned hours are maintained accurately and project time is recorded in a timely manner
- Ensure clients' quality standards are met by maintaining a high standard of professionalism at all times and ensuring high customer satisfaction
- Comply with all by the client published policies and guidelines

Your skills:
- At least two years' experience within complex migration projects in an IT supplier, end-user or IT consultancy services company
- Proven ability to lead and co-ordinate multi-skilled teams, including customer, third party, and clients' people
- Accent on ability to plan, manage risk and assess complex situations
- Practical 'hands on' experience of IT projects, knowledge of the techniques, sensitivities and issues that arise
- SAN
- Enterprise Storage
- SAN Switches (Brocade)
- Visio and MS-Project
- German and English
- OS ( Unix or Windows or both)
- Familiarity with virtualisation based migration, host based migration and other common migration techniques
- EMC, HP or IBM storage products is an advantage
- Ability to write well-structured reports with clear, logical and succinct English together with good use of word processing skills
