Our client, a large financial organisation based in the North West is looking for a SAS Consultant to join their team on a contract basis.

PURPOSE:

To support the build, maintenance and enhancement of information service capabilities in the area of Business Intelligence (BI) and reporting to enable business plans and long term objectives to be met. Responsible for directing a team of specialists to design and build reporting solutions whilst adopting best practice framework to provide appropriate level of control and governance of reporting.

ROLE AND CONTEXT DIMENSIONS OF ROLE:

- Manage MI Developers to provide timely and accurate reporting to both NRAM and B&B business units and external parties.
- Ensure that MI solutions and reporting provides the business with the appropriate insight on which to make informed decisions to drive customer and business performance.
- Ensure a robust and consistent criterion is applied to all Business MI reporting distributed across UKAR.
- Represent the function as a MI expert and stakeholder for initiatives across UKAR.

KEY TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Meet with internal and external customers to:

- Ensure consistent reporting and data integrity is maintained across UKAR reporting
- Ensure change control process is followed for Business MI reporting solutions
- Manage resource effectively to support BAU critical processes and reporting development
- Escalate irresolvable issues to Business MI Manager
- Support prioritisation of data management workload appropriately to ensure alignment with business priorities - Understand reporting, analysis and data requirements and challenge as appropriate
- Analyse what data is available and gather appropriate information
- Negotiate deadlines
- Estimate development effort
- Manage stakeholder expectations and build relationships

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

- Daily, weekly and monthly reporting SLA's are met.
- Effective communication of technical and non-technical information with team and business areas as required
- Effective estimation of effort required and timescales for delivery of change requests to both existing and new reporting requirements
- Strong working relationship with customers across UKAR through effective management of stakeholder expectations
- Responsive to changing business requirements and customer needs
- Staff have objectives which are reviewed regularly and personal development plans
- Deal with any performance or attendance problems

REPORTS LINE UPWARDS/DOWNWARDS/SPAN OF CONTROL:

- Reports to the Business MI Manager
- Responsible for up to 13 FTE working in a Matrix approach to resourcing and development across 2 separate SAS platforms and 5 environments

RISK

- Develop and maintain a good risk and control awareness across the team
- Responsible for risk activities governing team processes
- Compliance and adherence to all Company policies and procedures.

ACCOUNTABILITY

- To provide strong functional leadership to the team and maximise individual and team performance
- Motivate, coach and develop individuals within the team to maximise capabilities and potential
- Identify individual training and coaching needs and build appropriate succession and development plans
- Ensure regular quality performance reviews are undertaken in line with the Groups agreed performance management process.
