Messaging and Directory Manager

Are you an experienced technical Active Directory and messaging manager who's worked in a large organisation with a large volume of messages being sent and received daily? Are you a strong manager, who's also got the technical skills to develop and improve our message and directory environments?  Are you excited by the idea of working for a high-profile organisation that makes a big difference to people's lives?

We're the Financial Ombudsman Service - an independent organisation set up to sort out disputes between financial services businesses and their customers. When a consumer has a complaint that they can't settle with the business, they can come to us. We're here to act fairly, reasonably and impartially - and our service is free for consumers to use.

This is a really varied role which involves using your technical expertise to deliver business projects that meet our organisation's needs, offer high-level support and working to develop our infrastructure. Alongside this, you'll be managing the messaging and directory team members and producing management information to help keep us informed of how our systems are performing. In this important role, you'll also sit on our change advisory board - looking at how changes to our services will impact on the wider ombudsman.

So what are we looking for from you? The technical side of this role means you'll need to have experience working in an ITIL framework and understand architectural and infrastructure principles and best practice. You'll also have knowledge of a wide range of systems, including Exchange 2010/2013, Lync 2013, Outlook 2010/2013, Active Directory 2008 and 2012, plus Good for Enterprise, alongside other anti-virus, anti-spam and archiving tools. Your management experience will help you in leading your team and making sure you coach and develop them to be the very best they can be. And you'll be comfortable talking to people across the organisation - adapting your style for your audience.
