Mechanical Inspector

An engineering and construction client has an immediate need for a Mechanical QC Inspector to inspect various facets of work on the construction site and perform continuous surveillance of assigned construction activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Work will be performed on the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. This is a TEMP-TO-PERM position. Local candidates only, no per diem available.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Inspect job sites to detect and correct safety hazards
- Document nonconformance and participate in determining appropriate resolution
- Inspection activities will be focused on mechanical but will include concrete, mechanical and electrical

REQUIREMENTS

- At least 5 years experience as a Mechanical QC Inspector
- Background witnessing civil and structural tests, such as soil compaction, moisture content, aggregation, graduation, concrete slump, air entrainment, concrete compression, lines and grades surveys, bolt torques, and concrete coring
- Background witnessing destructive and nondestructive tests on metals and other materials through radiographic, tension and compression, and resistivity and witnessing the surveillance of underground piping to ensure tightness, bedding and grade
- Experience validating piping systems, including P&ID checks and hydraulic or other pressure tests
