Mechanical Engineer w/Project Mgmt. and Supply Chain exp

Seeking a Mechanical Engineer who has Project Management and Supply Chain experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Work with a team of highly qualified engineers to generate the overall design concept for the mechanical system as well as the detailed design of the mechanical components which include plastic parts, sheet metal stampings, castings, rubber and elastomers.
- Design and development of highly sophisticated communication products for the professional and mission critical markets in the commercial, government and industrial segments.
- Overall Engineering ownership of Mechanical/System components - including Metal Frame, Decorative Plastic Facades, Touchscreen Displays, Cables, Mounting Bracketry, and associated Accessories
- Work with third parties to evaluate products, influence designs, and deliver prototypes
- Support Mechanical aspects of customer RFP/RFQ/bids/opportunities, standard designs, and tradeshows/demos
- Develop concepts for Frame designs (plastic facades, metal brackets, custom configs, mounting bracketry, etc) across different configurations and accessories
- Develop concepts for special mounting brackets and specifying standard mounting brackets
- Validate/test mechanical designs - including design reviews and prototype reviews
- Manage touchscreen displays and cable components (suppliers, evaluations, work with Category Managers, etc.)
- Support Supply Chain activities for mechanical parts.
- Finalize mechanical designs & verify prototypes
- Guide designers to create appropriate drawings (renderings)
- Drive sourcing of metal, plastic, bezels, brackets for standard designs (work with Category Manager, pricing, RFQ, etc.)
- Drive sourcing of all displays & cables (work with Category Manager, pricing, RFQ, etc.)
- Drive safety certifications (ie UL Lab Testing)
- Drive packaging and labeling (ie UL, ROHS, etc)
- Driving mechanical BOM, part numbers, price, & approvals in Agile PLM system
- Develop Quick Start Guides and Assembly documentation
- Create and drive testing plans of Mechanical Designs
- Support Distribution or 3rd Party Integrator for Assembly, Test, Pack operations as needed
- Work with Support for readiness of Support/Repair Operations for Mechanical components
- Oversee Pilots and First Article of Inspections for Mechanical Components
- Support Services for Installation/Deploy mechanical aspects of Product
- Provide level three support for customer field issues (defect management, response to issues, etc)
- Manage end of life for touchscreen displays
- Interface with Customers and Sales for new design requests as needed

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

- Knowledge of manufacturing process (injection molding, sheet metal, etc.)
- Working knowledge of Pro/Engineer Modeling software
- Working knowledge of finite element analysis, and experience with environmental qualification testing.
- Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Engineering field or equivalent is required
- At least 5 years of relevant industry experience in Mechanical and/or Systems Engineering
- Experience in Project Management activities
- Experience in supporting Supply Chain readiness activities
- Experience with managing Regulatory approval activities for new product launches
- Ability to work with, and effectively influence other groups and team members at different levels of the organization
- Excellent analytical and hands on problem solving skills
- Excellent written/verbal communication and time management skills
- Motivated and independent self starter

DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

- Kiosk design experience
- CAD drafting software skills and experience
- Prior experience with processes, suppliers, supply-chain/logistics systems
- Prior experience with direct customer interfacing for product/project execution
- Experience with NEBS testing, and experience with either Smartbits or Ixia
