Mechanical Aircraft Design Engineer

Mechanical Aircraft Design Engineer required to help deliver the required design support to a major project for a leading defence sector Aerospace client.

Current SC is desirable but not essential, although successful candidates will be put through baseline clearance and then likely full SC Clearance.

The successful candidate must have aircraft design experience across a broad spectrum of aircraft mechanical systems, ideally rotary wing aircraft platforms. Must be an experienced user of 3D CAD tools and design techniques, ideally with experience using Solid Edge 3D CAD tool, but experience using CATIA, Solidworks, Pro Engineer/Wildfire or other similar tools will be considered. Have a good understanding of manufacturing methods (eg machining, fabrication, welding etc) and an understanding of metallic materials and properties. You will come from an Aircraft/Aerospace Engineering background and either Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering ONC/HNC or Degree/HND, experience or apprenticeship or military equivalent in similar field.

You will be responsible for understanding the customer requirement to develop design solutions and produce models and engineering drawings using Solid Edge 3D CAD tool. Also working on bid support, conduct aircraft surveys and attendance at Design Reviews and meetings etc.
