MATERIALS ENGINEER is needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in DANBURY, CT.

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS SHOULD YOU POSSESS:

- This is an opportunity for a junior contract position with the Materials Engineering group in Danbury, CT to support aerospace programs.
- The individual would collaborate with Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality, Receiving and Inspection, Supply Chain, and suppliers to verify the compliance of materials to specification requirements.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Write, revise procurement, and process specifications for materials and mechanical parts
- Define and lead the execution of test plans to substantiate qualification and acceptance values used in technical specifications, including the preparation of qualification reports
- Review and standardize Product Assurance Codes assigned by Quality Engineering for applicability to the product and supplier
- Support Quality Engineering and Supply Chain in the review of purchase order exceptions and non-conforming product from suppliers
- Review incoming data packages to verify compliance of paperwork, such as Certificate of Conformance and Certificate of Analysis/test reports, to the requirements of the procurement specification
- Collect and compile information from data packages into Materials Information and Usage Lists (MIUL)/As Built Parts Materials and Process Lists (ABPMPL)
- Support Quality Engineering in leading supplier investigations to closure, including use of basic root cause analysis principles, preparation of summary presentations for the internal review board and customer review board, and supplier communications
- Develop and document standard inspection criteria for materials and parts
- Lead efforts to improve internal processes using Six Sigma/CI/ACE tools, including creation of process maps, templates, work instructions, and databases
- Support the Material Review Board process to disposition materials

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Bachelors of Science in Materials Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or similar technical area of study
- Two to five (2-5) years of related experience
- Ability to complete work through independent investigation
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Direct experience writing material procurement and process specifications
- Aptitude and interest in performing material quality data reviews
- Experience preparing material usage lists (MIUL/ADPMPL)for space programs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Basic understanding and ability to navigate AMS, ASTM, Mil, NAS specifications
- Ability to provide material disposition based on technical data, internal requirements, and customer requirements
- Ability to adapt and work towards program and schedule needs
- Strong work ethic and self-starter
- This is a six (6) month contract, paying between $30 - $35 per hour.
