Manager - Functional Safety Consulting Houston, TX A Global Oil * On Scope; * On Schedule. Works closely with the National Sales Director and sales team to ensure - * Sales pipeline of opportunities in support of business goals; * All proposed technical solutions meet customer requirements as defined in the RFQ or scope definition documentation; * adherence to governance process and delegation of authority; * proposed gross margins are within approved limits; Monitors performance and motivation of individual engineers and project team members. Mentors future direct reports and provides assistance in career planning and professional development. Involved in performance management, succession planning, recruitment and training of FSC engineering and project management staff Maintains close and cooperative relationships with engineering management personnel within global businesses. Qualifications * Tertiary qualifications process / mechanical / electrical / control system engineer. * TUV Functional Safety Certified Engineer (or Exida CFSE) * Postgraduate qualifications in business are desirable but not essential Experience * 10 years+ functional safety consulting experience within oil and gas / process or related industries. * Extensive knowledge of IEC 61508; IEC 61511; SP84 * Experience in leading a facilitating HAZOPS / CHAZOPS; Risk Matrix calibration; SIL Analysis and SIL Verification * Demonstrated experience and ability in managing a team of engineers focused on delivery consultancy services in the safety instrumented system (SIS) and automation markets. Competencies Strong leadership skills, ability to motivate and build teams, ability to multitask in a complex and busy project based environment. Ability to think and act strategically; well-developed ethical and personal integrity. Good English language skill. As a safety consultant you will be responsible for a range of technical projects including: * HAZOPs * FMEAs * SIL assessments * Technical assessments * SIL verification * Functional safety audit and assessment * Reliability assessments * Training Projects will be in a range of markets including oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical, mining and rail. You will be dealing with multiple customers and stakeholders with tight timeframes. The role will involve visiting customer sites across the territory and you must be willing to travel up to 30%.
