Machinist (Tool and die)

Yoh has a contract opportunity for a MACHINIST (TOOL AND DIE) to join our client in Morganton, North Carolina.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide specialty machine shop support to Tool Crib, Production, Maintenance, Engineering and Quality Assurance.
- Repair and/or alter existing equipment.
- Fabricate fixtures and gages from sketches or concepts.
- Fabricate and/or repair support components.
- All activities as necessary to assist Tool Crib, Engineering, and Production.
- Plan and perform a combination of machining, heat treating, mechanical and welding duties to minimize production equipment down time.
- Disassemble and repair broken and/or damaged equipment as required.
- Restore mechanical and pneumatic and hydraulic equipment to good working order.
- Repair and alter existing equipment and sub-assemblies.
- Make all machining set-ups and keep a clean and orderly work area.
- Make fixtures and gages with only sketches, concepts and verbal instructions. Give inputs to improve the designs.
- Work from detailed drawings, sketches, or verbal instructions to produce parts using precision measuring equipment and specifications.
- Program, operate and maintain CNC equipment.
- Maintain complete and accurate log of work performed, man hours and materials required for each job completed.
- Maintain supplies and perishable tools to assure readiness for work required.
- Will train on 1st shift and move to 2nd within 4-6 weeks. This is a 40 hr/week job. OT is a possibility depending on volume.

Job Qualifications:

- Two year Technical Degree (AAS) or completion of 8,000 hrs. State or Federal approved apprenticeship program - Tool and Die (preferred).
- Five to seven (5-7) years heavy tool/die background.
- Experience in machining, heat treating, mechanical and welding.
- Ability to work from detailed drawings and sketches to product parts using precision measuring equipment.
- Experience in making fixtures and gages.
- Program, operate and maintain CNC equipment.
