Linux/Unix System Analyst

Synergis has an contract opportunity for a IT Support Analyst to join a small infrastructure team for a leading University in Atlanta, GA. The position will perform the day to day system administration and support of 50+ Servers. Standard 8 hour work day with no on call or weekend work required. Occasional projects may require some extra work hour but typical days are 8 hours. The position is scheduled to begin ASAP and last until September.

Details include:

1. Manage the day to day server environment consisting of Apache Web Servers running PHP
2. Manage the back ups using Netback Up
3. Manage a high availability cluster of 13 FTTP machines
5. Daily monitoring and handling of system upgrades, troubleshooting, adding new boxes, to the environment, understanding connectivity issues
6. Add users and build/image Servers on Linux/Unix Servers
7. Ability to work independently and handle some small side projects on occasion
8. Escalate any severe systems issues or unresolved incidents to the Sr. Systems Admin for immediate resolution.

Experience needed:

- 2+ years in a system admin or systems analyst role managing a small farm Linux Servers, Apache web server experience preferred
- B.S. or A.S. in Networking, Computer Science or related experience
- Certifications are a preferred but required
- Experience working in a higher education setting (preferred but not required)
