LINUX/UNIX ENGINEER

Our client is a Swiss Financial Services institution with offices in Basel.
We are looking for a contractor/consultant to join on a temporary basis to oversee the responsibilities for operational and project based system engineering.
START DATE IS 03.06.17 AT THE LATEST.
The assignment is planned to run until the END OF 2017 with optional prolongation.
Tasks
- Installation, configuration, customisation and testing of software (operational, universal and standard) and hardware
- Engineering, design, automation, operation and monitoring of complex issues in a Linux/Unix environment
- 2nd and 3rd level support of backup, storage (SAN) based on Linux/Unix systems as well as hardware support
- Project and BAU (Business as usual) support
- Operation of third party monitoring system
- Installation of a documentation system
Requirements
- Extensive experience in system engineering in a Linux/Unix environment for high-speed systems
- High comfortability working in a small team to support numerous organisational requirements on both a project and operational basis
- Knowledge of Nagios or Icinga highly advantageous
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Well-structured and proactive mind-set to work in a challenging environment to meet deadlines
- Fluency in English and German (written & spoken)
