For one of her clients Qualogy is looking for a senior Linux Migration Engineer with strong coordination skills

Within the IT landscape there are a number of applications hosted on UNIX/Linux servers (AIX, Solaris, SUSE) that have gone out of (extended) support while new Linux standards have been defined . Therefore a program has been initiated to migrate these applications to the target stack of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
The Linux migration engineer will follow a standardized approach for migrating applications from the current UNIX (AIX, Solaris, SUSE) infrastructure to the target Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x infrastructure. The migration engineer will be working on multiple application migrations in parallel in multiple releases . The main migration engineer activities are:

-Prepare server provisioning requests based on design documentation and analysis of current server infrastructure
-Deliver input to architects in order to update the required design documentation
-Create, update & maintain application migration & installation documentation
-Ready RHEL servers for application source code installations and compilations, e.g. file systems, users, packages, etc.
-Ensure RHEL server functionalities such as print and mail are configured for applications that are being migrated
-Assist in shell script conversions of UNIX to Linux
-Perform installations or deployments on Dev à Tst à Acc à Prod environments together with the application support teams
-Assist during UAT and troubleshoot technical issues
-Define migration approach together with the core team
-Prepare go-live run books & deliver input for change requests
-(Assist) in migrating interfaces to new environment when applicable
-Assist during go-lives
-Prepare server decommissioning requests
-Handover to run and provide support during aftercare

The migration engineer is an experienced specialist in UNIX/Linux server & application migration which understands the infrastructure requirements in order to facilitate and execute successful application migrations:
-Experience in UNIX to Linux server/application migrations
-Knowledge and experience of UNIX Operating Systems: (AIX and Solaris)
-Knowledge and experience of Linux Operating Systems: RedHat Enterprise Linux
-Overall coordination (together with project lead) the installation and troubleshooting activities of application support teams and other engineers (e.g. DBA, TAS, etc.)
-Strong team player
-Communication skills
-Ability to think out of the box and willing to take the extra step in order to meet the project timelines
