Linux and DNS Administrator contract available in Valencia, Spain!
Our client is an international IT Support company with a diverse number of IT teams and technologies including a multi-location Linux environment. The successful Linux Administrator will provide on-going support and implement service enhancements, and provide support for other services running on Linux/Solaris and Windows. This is an English speaking role and offers long term possibility, plus the chance to work with a globally recognised organisation, and in an amazing location.
Linux Systems Admin duties:
- Assist in the design and the implementation of policies and procedures.
- Act as a subject matter expert on best practices and efficient solutions on the support of DNS services running on Infoblox appliances and on Windows 2008/2012
- Provide support for Microsoft DNS Server and Infoblox DNS appliances configuration, administration and installation (when applicable)
- Perform appliances system administration and maintenance.
- Quickly and efficiently troubleshoot issues
- Implement industry standards
- Help formulate a plan of actions for appliances that fall out of the appropriate operating guidelines.
- Evaluate and recommend upgrades or enhancements to the current DNS environment consisting of (but not limited to) DNS Infoblox appliances and Microsoft DNS Servers
- Progressively provide support for other Identity services running on Linux/Solaris and Windows (IAM solutions eg CA Single Sign On, LDAP, RSA SecurID, etc.)
- Document processes and procedures (SOPs)
- Participate in on-call rotation, out of hours support and operations during maintenance windows
- Participate in disaster recovery exercises
- Create documentation and develop training plans for other support team members
Required Linux and DNS skills:
- Degree in Computer Science or relevant experience.
- Excellent English language communication skills.
- A minimum of five (5) years of systems administration, support and monitoring.
- A minimum of two (2) years of technical experience supporting a DNS infrastructure running on Infoblox appliances and Microsoft DNS Server
- Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix systems administration (Red Hat preferred), including Shell Scripting.
- Sound understanding of DNS and TCP/IP
- Ability to write reports and procedure manuals.
- Excellent problem resolution ability.
- Ability to prioritize work and work with minimum supervision.
- Experience with IT Service Management processes and ITIL Foundation
