Lighting R&D Internship - PhD Level

Your work will include: · Writing microcontroller firmware in C/C++ · Working with cutting-edge digital and analog electronics designs · Performing system design and development activities with a high degree of independence and creativity.

Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: · Masters in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Physics · Ability to work locally at the Lighting Research Center 71 Cherry Hill Drive in Beverly, MA · Proficient in object oriented programming languages like Visual Basic.NET or C#.NET or C/C++ · Experience in micro controller programming, compilers and tool chains · Experience in Graphical User Interface programming · Some experience with communication interfaces like I2C, SPI or UART · Excellent command of oral and written English · Commitment to working independently and in a team environment THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: · Knowledge of image processing algorithms · Knowledge of visual object detection · Experience in implementing complex algorithms efficiently on resource limited processors · Strong background in object oriented programming, classes and data structures · Specialist experience in software design of embedded systems, e.g. with ARM processors · Hands-on experience with low voltage / digital electronic circuits · Working knowledge of communication interfaces like UART or I2C is preferable · Knowledge of network architectures and communication protocols · Knowledge of communication protocols like USB or TCP/IP a plus · Knowledge of lighting control systems · Knowledge of wireless communications protocols (ZigBee, Bluetooth, etc.) a plus · Expertise in design, analysis and testing of microcontroller operated digital and analog electronics · Experience in Source Code Control System, Subversion · Experience with UML diagrams · Experience with databases and SQL
