Legal Counsel

LEGAL COUNSEL - 12 Months Contract - Bracknell - £350 - £400 per day

Our client, a Global organsistaion is seeking a Legal Counsel to be based in Bracknell on an initial 12 Month Contract.

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing advice and guidance on a wide variety of legal matters across a range of business environments. Specific accountabilities and responsibilities include:

*Providing counsel on a broad spectrum of corporate matters, including transactions, acquisition, divestiture, restructuring, financing and other strategic and business development activities.
*Managing litigation and disputes at levels of significance or complexity appropriate to level of experience. Formulating and implementing litigation strategy. Working with and managing outside counsel. Recommending resolution/settlement path to senior management that includes matters that cross business lines. Communicating on a regular basis with UK and international teams.
*Advising on a wide variety of commercial matters, including marketing and advertising, contracts, licensing, manufacturing related issues, competition/distribution, employment/labour, product liability, EHS, compliance and regulatory matters.
*With the help of subject-matter experts in the company, advising on critical and sensitive legal issues relating to global businesses, including E-commerce, supply chain, data privacy, compliance with anti-corruption laws (UKBA and FCPA) and trade compliance.
*Directing and implementing programs, policies and practices to ensure that UK&I operates in compliance with the client policy and the law. Actively championing the Company's long-standing commitment to compliance and operating with high ethical standards. In particular, developing and sharing tools and processes relative to the UK Bribery Act requirements.
*Developing a thorough understanding of and familiarity with the client business, its people, markets, facilities, customers and competitors in order to partner effectively with the business.
*Regularly sharing best practices, new challenges or developments, innovations and efficiency related projects.
*Performing special assignments or projects as assigned by UK General Counsel.

CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE:

*UK Qualified Solicitor/Barrister
*Ideally at least 5 years qualified
*Experience working in house an advantage
*Ideally the candidate will have been trained and have experience working at a London or significant UK national law firm
*Background in general commercial contracts, some M&A, basic understanding of Intellectual Property
*Candidate need to have strong interpersonal skills, be able to work with minimum supervision
*Full time or 4 days a week considered
*Unquestioned integrity and ethics in business and personal conduct.
*A desire to understand the UK's business and commerce and the ability to diagnose legal problems, and present positive, creative solutions and alternatives for management, operating with a client service orientation.
*Highly effective written and oral communication skills.
*A proactive, energetic and enthusiastic approach to all tasks, great or small.
