An Exciting opportunity has arisen to join a high profile client of ours, based in London. The Lead Negotiator will be expected to lead on contractual negotiations working alongside senior stakeholders working on rail franchising projects,

Key Tasks/Deliverables

- Lead the development of the Request for Proposal, in conjunction with the specialists supporting this project;
- Ensure SRO is kept informed of all developments with the project
- Provide leadership guidance and support to the team of specialists who are working on the Direct Award for a specific franchise;
- Ensure that before approval, the RfP is supported by the Franchise Director and is compatible with the longer term aims of the Department for the franchise;
- Lead and manage the Technical Advisers to ensure that support is in line with the expected quality and the agreed budget;
- Leadership of the team to ensure that the relevant reporting requirements for the project are met;
- Lead the clarification question response to the RfP and also lead the co-ordination of the Department's clarification question;
- Direct tasks to ensure that prior to entering negotiation, approval has been granted for the negotiation brief from the SRO or other defined governance procedures
- Ensure that there is an appropriate comparator model in place to assist negotiations and decision making;
- Lead negotiations with the incumbent operator to ensure that Department obtains the best possible deal for the Interim franchise period;

Key Skills/Experience

- Qualification in project management such as PRINCE2 and/or equivalent, demonstrable experience of project management techniques and tools
- Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management
- Experience of successfully negotiating large and complex deals, preferably in the transport industry
- Railway Commercial Experience
- Experience in rail franchises beneficial

Candidates will preferably have had experience of working in the rail sector and/or the public sector.
