Lead Electrical Engineer

DATS have an excellent opportunity to join the existing team of a large oil & gas company working on engineering projects in Aberdeen on a staff/contract basis.

Duties
* Provide supervision, direction and support for all Electrical discipline engineering and design personnel.
* Develop and maintain Electrical team structure to provide a scalable resource base to meet project demands across a range of platforms.
* Develop and maintain the Electrical work plans as an integral element of overall project plans and ensure delivery against the plans.
* Provide first point consultancy to the team for specialist discipline services and liaise with specialist consultants.
* Promote and develop new design technology solutions for the overall benefit of project delivery.
* Ensure that all Electrical work complies with the management system and that technical integrity standards are maintained.
* Monitor Electrical discipline performance and develop discipline business improvement plans.
* The post will involve technical engineering responsibility of various electrical upgrade / modification projects on established North Sea and West Africa's assets. Also good understanding of Package Engineering including Air Compressors, Gas Turbines, HV Motors and Drive Systems etc is also a prerequisite.
* Understand load flow, fault analysis, protection grading, transient and stability analysis, harmonics and ability to specify, manage and interpret specialist studies when required.
* Specification of switchgear and supervisory system modification work to existing installations
* General Electrical equipment and materials specification and procurement, electrical installation design,
* Checking of design drawings and specifications, producing design packages, electrical narratives for workpacks,
* FAT and SAT Witness Testing and final commissioning procedures

Background & Experience
* An Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering or related subject is preferable.
* Chartered membership of recognised engineering institution desirable
* Able to work within budgets and prepare accurate cost estimates from client outline requirements.
* The candidate will also be expected to coach and develop younger engineers and designers.
* Design supervision / checking /authorising.
* Proven track record in design & commissioning of multidiscipline projects.
* Able to travel offshore to UKNS and West Africa's installations
