This organisation is looking for an Assistant Principal Landscape and Tree Officer to assist in the development and management of a creative and cost effective Landscape and Arboriculture Service to internal and external clients in accordance with the City Council's objectives to maintain and enhance the quality of the City's environment.

MAIN ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* To assist as the Council's principal adviser on specialist landscape and arboriculture issues with regard to policy, Development Control and the Growth Agenda.
* To assist in the management of consultant and contractor performance to ensure compliance with specifications and effective contract delivery.
* To assist in securing and monitoring quality procedures and practices to reflect the needs of the service and customers.
* To maintain a co-ordinated and integrated approach between the service and other service areas to support the effective delivery of team and corporate objectives.
* To ensure that all landscape and tree schemes are designed with due regard to the design brief, public consultation, timetable, procedures and agreed costs.
* To assist in the development of policies and promotion of best practice in landscape issues and services and ensuring the sustainable development of the City.
* To assist in the provision of the landscape architecture and arboriculture service to the Council and to the Department on matters relating to the public realm, public highway, natural environment and open space, including Local Nature Reserves.
* To provide advice to the Major Growth and Development Control Teams on the landscape and arboriculture implications of development.
* To help ensure that landscape and arboriculture issues are appropriately represented and addressed within the Council and in particular within the Growth Agenda and Development Control including the critical analysis of and responses to masterplans and other planning application information.
* To take a leading role in providing landscape and arboriculture input into Area Action Plans, development briefs, design codes and planning briefs etc.
* Take a leading role in negotiations with developers and their consultants in issues related to landscape and arboriculture.

You should match the following criteria:

* Experience of commenting upon and dealing with a wide variety of planning applications.
* Degree or Post Graduate qualification in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design or equivalent.
* Professional Diploma in Arboriculture or National Diploma in Arboriculture.
* Fully chartered member of the Landscape
* Proven post qualification experience at an appropriate level in Landscape Architecture and Arboriculture.
* Proven experience of managing and coordinating complex and sensitive projects including day-to-day monitoring.
* Fully conversant with current legislation, regulations and guidance, including CDM and Health and Safety.
* Degree or Post Graduate qualification in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design or equivalent.
