LAN Technician – 6 Months Rolling – Chelmsford, Essex

My client, a leading global IT and Telecomms Managed Service Communication Provider require an experienced LAN Technician to join the existing IaaS team to assist the infrastructure projects and provide support for a dynamic and growing Managed Service Communication Provider.

They will have experience of providing support for all data networking activities including MPLS networks and BGP implementation, and a good working knowledge of internal routing protocols.

Although the LAN technician will be part of a Converged Networks team, they must be capable of working independently and managing their own workload to successfully deliver project tasks on time and budget Responsibilities include:

• Assisting with infrastructure projects and dealing with LAN issues

• Providing support for all data networking activities including MPLS networks and BGP implementations

• Providing 1st and 2nd line support

• Other duties as directed by the Team leader Required skills/exposure:

• Exposure to Cisco Infrastructure with the ability to troubleshoot

• Knowledge of network monitoring systems, ability to troubleshoot

• Knowledge of Cisco firewalls and ability to administer and troubleshoot

• Basic LAN issues (VLAN's, VTP, trunking, general connectivity / performance, cabling, switch upgrades)

• Exposure to Cisco Call manager and/or Siemens IPT solutions

• Wireless communication utilising Cisco ACS, Cisco WLC's

• A good working knowledge of internal routing protocols
