Health Sciences Association of Alberta is a progressive union representing approximately 24,000 professional and technical members. Our Labour Relations Officers are front line staff who are responsible for delivering high-quality services to our members and working toward achieving our strategic plan of members and the public valuing unions.
We are currently recruiting for:
POSITION: LABOUR RELATIONS OFFICER
STATUS: FULL-TIME (TEMPORARY) *ANTICIPATED END DATE DECEMBER 31, 2015
LOCATION: CALGARY
JOB SUMMARY
Located in our Calgary office the position will report to the Director of Labour Relations South. The successful applicant will be responsible for the provision of labour relations advice and assistance to the membership related to issues arising from their employment; interpret the language and application of the Collective Agreement; analyze and apply case law and legislation and guide members through grievance and complaint processes. LROs may also be assigned to facilitate workshops and to lead or assist with collective bargaining.
QUALIFICATIONS

University degree in a related discipline (Labour/Industrial Relations, Human Resources Management)

Familiarity with various employment legislations
-
Skilled at evaluating and resolving complex issues
-
An ability to work independently in a team environment
-
Good computer knowledge
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-
A minimum of three years' experience
A combination of related experience and education will be considered
