Laboratory Technician

DESCRIPTION:

- The Lab Process Technician position will supports the technical growth and success of the analytical laboratory under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager.
- The individual will develop and utilize his or her proficiency in chemistry, information systems and instrumentation as it relates to the support of the analytical laboratory and production processes.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Ensure that activities are performed in accordance with all safety policies.
- Develop and maintain high housekeeping and performance standards for area(s) of responsibility.
- Recognizes when there is a routine problem with the instrumentation or analysis procedure.
- Recommends and implements corrective action of routine issues with moderate supervision and non-routine under more direct supervision.
- Ensures maintenance of lab equipment is completed on a timely basis.
- Represents the site on the Quality Assurance Committee.
- Creates and updates the SOPs and work instructions for the laboratory.
- Administrate the Lab Information Management System.
- Other responsibilities include daily operations, user training and troubleshooting.
- Administrate the QSI procedure database.
- Demonstrates an aptitude for computer software applications.
- Individual will be expected to cross train for essential operations on the laboratory computer systems, Lotus Notes, SAP, and Microsoft office systems.
- Demonstrate ability to maintain accurate retain inventories.
- Initiates, coordinates and follows through on administrative needs associated with customer shipments as it relates to quality.
- The primary objective is to provide all customers with a complete, accurate product Certificate of Analysis, datasheets, and retains in a timely manner.
- Maintains a working knowledge of customer requirements associated with product shipments.
- Ability to interface effectively with both internal and external customers.
- Develop advanced knowledge of all lab equipment, the theory involved, the information it provides and its impact on the company. Supports capital project instrument installation.
- Efficiently organizes, sets up and safely conducts laboratory and/or system experiments to validate instrumentation as it is required. Develop, implement, and monitor lab equipment calibration frequency and standards.
- Maintain records and communicate issues promptly
- Oversees the development, performance and completion of special requests submitted by internal and external support staff. Exhibits ability to work independently.
- Coach analytical associates on; time and attendance, performance, and goals
- Perform other duties as assigned by management

SKILLS:

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

- Five plus years of laboratory related experience.
- BS degree in related field desirable.
- Minimum of high school diploma (advance education such as college courses, technical school, or special training in math, science or chemistry preferred).
