Lab Technician (Biology) Job

LAB TECHNICIAN needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in Wilmington DE.

THE BIG PICTURE:

With guidance from supervision, primary responsibility is to assist technical personnel in general laboratory operations and routine laboratory or information handling tasks in support of scientific research. Perform tasks according to accepted methods and training prescribed by the work group.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Extract genomic DNA from large numbers of plant samples to amplify DNA fragments of interest by PCR.
- Clone such DNA fragments and submit them for sequencing.
- Compare the returned sequences to reference sequences to identify modifications.
- Present sequence analysis results in sequence alignment files and summarize the results in Word and Excel files. Good record keeping to keep track of multiple projects
- Assists technical personnel in general laboratory operations, maintaining laboratory facilities and equipment in accordance with Laboratory standards in order to help ensure the validity and integrity of experimental results.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- BS in Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Plant studies or related field
- Trained in molecular biology, biochemistry, or biotechnology with hands on experiences in DNA extraction, PCR, and DNA cloning.
- Familiar with DNA sequence analysis programs and web based sequence searches and data mining.
