Junior Java Developer/Graduate

Proteus Europe is searching for a Junior Java Developer/Graduate for the European Commission in Brussels for an exciting and long term contract with them in the Research and Development Digit.

Your New role:

The services to be provided are at the level APPLICATION DEVELOPER (APD), with experience in the technical environment mentioned below. The types of tasks included in the service will concentrate on supporting the Commission staff in the area of project management activities, requirements analysis and specification, or on the more technical applications design and support (but less frequently), as described below. However, work assignments in the RTD/J/04 IT unit are flexible within the requirements of the profile requested, and strengths in other areas will also be of interest.

The tasks will be the following:

Nature of the tasks

Development and maintenance of software applications
Development and integration of technological components
Implementation of user requirements.
Prototyping
Elaboration of test programs
Integration with other applications
Writing of technical documentation
Assistance with deployment and configuration of the system
Participation in meetings with the project teams. 2/3
Depending on the circumstances, the expert may be requested to provide assistance or support in the resolution of production issues.

Your Skills and experience:

Essential Skills:

In depth knowledge of application development environments
Good knowledge of the design and development of web and multi-tier applications
Good knowledge of modelling tools (eg UML)
Knowledge of software development methodologies (eg RUP, AGILE)
Knowledge of relational database systems
Ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in application developments
Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, ease of communication.
Capability of integration in an international/multi-cultural environment, rapid self-starting capability and experience in working in team. Education and experience
Minimum a total of 6(4) years of relevant studies and/or experience after the secondary school Optional specific expertise
Minimum a total of 3 years of experience with one or more of the following: development tools/environments/languages (eg Java, JEE, ANT), or in modelling tools (eg UML). 9 Ability to apply high quality standards- Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, excellent communicator.- Capability of working in an international/multicultural environment 3.

TECHNOLOGY USED IN THE COMMISSION IT SYSTEMS

Oracle 11G 12, Oracle Text (and following)
Weblogic 10 and following Java/JEE 1.4, 1.5 environment and standards EJB3 UML Modelling and RUP Methodology
