Junior Java Developer - Finance Start-up - Contract to Perm

COMPANY

Our client, an exclusive partner to iKas, is an exciting new financial services startup organization that has recently released their flagship transactions platform. Now that they are actively trading, they're in a period of growth and seek to supplement their technology team with a view to build out the next phase of functionality to the project. As a result, there is a vacancy within the team for a Junior Java Developer to assist with build-out of some of the company's internal tools. The "Control Center Project" will be an initial three-month fixed term contract with a view to join the organization full-time.

THE ROLE

You will primarily be involved in the built-out and implementation of the company's internal control application - Control Center. You will also be involved in some tweaks and improvements to the external customer-facing web application - touching on UI and browser-based mobile. You will be a capable Java developer with Front End web experience but have an appreciation for the Back End as well. You will be passionate about technology, best practices and design principles, and building out an exciting and innovative web product.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE:

- 3+ years demonstrated experience developing Java-based web applications.
- Experience working with databases (MySQL) and JBoss application Servers.
- Experience with JSP, EJB, Struts, Javascript, jQuery - Spring/Hibernate experience a plus.
- Front End web experience - HTML/CSS - experience with mobile pages using JSP
- An appreciation for responsive design across devices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- A passion for technology and a drive to build an exciting, robust, web experience for the customer.
