Junior IT Engineer

Oxera is looking for a Junior IT Engineer. We advise companies, policymakers, regulators and lawyers on any economic issue connected with competition, finance or regulation. We have been doing this for more than three decades, gathering deep and wide-ranging knowledge as we expand into new sectors. We have a reputation for credibility and integrity among those we advise, and among key decision-makers, such as policymakers, regulators and courts. Today we have offices in Oxford, Berlin, Brussels and London, and are able to advise our international clients in a highly flexible way, including providing advice in several other languages.

We are looking for an IT engineer to join us in our Oxford office on a 12 month contract.

The individual will need to:
•provide first line technical support via phone and email to the Oxera workforce
•contribute and support the smooth running of the IT Department
In addition to this their main responsibilities will be:
•Providing first-line technical support to all users. This includes receiving requests (via phone and email), managing, recording and resolving IT support queries to agreed SLA's and general IT troubleshooting
•Maintaining the IT support log; analyse to observe whether any patterns might inform future handling of such requests
•User administration including adding users, Active Directory updating and e-mail account creation
•Keeping IT databases up to date - passwords/keycodes
•Basic installation, configuration and support of IT equipment (PC, Laptops, Printers, mobile/smart phones etc)
•Responsible for some hardware and software procurement
•Liaising with external support companies
•Keeping up to date with current technologies as used by the company and its clients
•Complying with company procedures
•Covering for other team members in their absence
•Other duties as required

•Quick to learn with strong problem solving capability
•Ability to work to tight deadlines, to juggle multiple tasks and to work flexibly to meet demands of the business
•Ability to work independently and use initiative
•Keen interest in technical issues. To show a genuine desire to be continually improving their technical knowledge and ability through self-study and in conjunction with the Company's offer of training
•Confidence and be a motivated individual with a self starter attitude

The ideal candidate will have the following technical abilities:

•Excellent knowledge of Windows 7 and Windows 8
•Knowledge of Microsoft Office 2013
•Knowledge of Microsoft AD/Novell e-directory, but not essential
•Desirable knowledge of Outlook
•Experience of Mobile device support
•General understanding of computer networks (basic)
•User administration of IT equipment
