Graduate/ Junior Developer - Southampton - £28k to £34k The Role: You will have exposure to a vast array of advanced technologies. The team look after over 35,000 diverse users' needs, have a large multilayer data centre and, most relevant to this appointment, we support and continuously improve over 240 major ICT services and over 650 standard applications. The Perfect Candidate if one exists: We are seeking a recent graduate with an excellent academic record to join the team (AAA at A Level and a 1st Class degree in Computer Science would be highly desirable and we would consider a candidate of this nature with little or no commercial experience.) We are looking for talent and personality over length of experience but that said 1-3 year of commercial experience would be ideal. Ideally exposure to a wide array of programming languages but enthusiasm to learn is equally important as training will be offered. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and bring fresh ideas is essential. The Technical background: Apps or web development background with knowledge and skills in some or all of the following: - Building web pages from scratch, communicating with users and interpreting their requirements; conforming to W3C standards - Thorough understanding of client side web application development - XHTML / HTML - Serverside Includes (SSI) - Java, JavaScript - Experience of using standard JavaScript Libraries, such as JQuery, CSS, XML, - XSLT - IIS, Apache, Tomcat / JSP Container - SVN software repository - Unix and/or Linux administration & configuration The hiring manager will be conducting a 1 stage interview process before the end of this month.
