Java Software Engineer

For our client located in Maastricht, the Netherlands, we are currently looking for a Java Software Engineer.

The Java Software Engineer will be required to develop software modules and documentation changes.

Within the projects portfolio, the client system project aims to improve the current tools and information used in the tactical process by integrating prediction tools, sector configuration management and other (analysis) tools into one coherent system with a customized HMI. A number of existing tools will need to be modified to fit the purpose and new components will have to be developed.

Job Description/Project Background
The domains that the Java Software Engineer will cover are multiple, in particular tasks areexpected to include the following activities
* Develop software modules for the tactical server. This includes designing, developing, maintaining and providing support on applications in the areas of data processing, HMI applications and various ATC data evaluation applications.
* Perform modifications to the given source code, documentation and test suite.
* Review requests for changes, clarify the understanding of the intention, perform prototyping where necessary, and create unambiguous software specifications.
* Analyse modifications required to the source code, documentation and test suite, and define test scope, to implement problem fixes and changes.
* Perform and document tests in line with test scope defined before.
* Review source code, documentation, test suite changes and test results performed by peers.
* Perform investigation of problems and sketch solutions.

Education
Higher Technical Education in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent professional knowledge

Experience/Required skills
* At least 3 years of practical experience in developing applications in the Java (NetBeans, Eclipse)
* At least 3 years of practical experience in developing RMI interfaces for data visualisation applications
* Practical experience in developing ETL data manipulation and interfaces to data sources in databases/data files (XML, csv)
* Experience in the development of Statistics & Management Information
* Practical experience in analysing and discussing operational and technical specifications
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Personal skills
* Excellent knowledge of the English language (written and spoken)
