JAVA OPERATIONS SUPPORT AND SOLUTION ENGINEER

On behalf of our client, a leading global company within finance, we are looking for a JAVA Operations Support and Solution Engineer. For this contract position based in Ticino in Switzerland our client is looking for an English speaking candidate who can start as soon as possible.

Responsibility:

The role is providing operational support as well as JAVA solution engineer functions for the Lombard ACP Model (LAM) and Concentration Risk (C-Risk) applications, consisting of high-profile global web applications.

Deliverables:

- Monitors correct execution of JAVA batch jobs in production and test environments
- Verifies data quality of incoming and outgoing data feeds of the DANTE data fabric
- Ensures correct application configurations in production and test environments
- Investigates root causes of data feed or data quality issues and provides for the necessary corrections
- Ensures timely and open issue management communication to business and other IT stakeholders
- Produces manual ad-hoc data extractions from DANTA data fabric (Oracle DB)
- Produces statistical information about performance and availability of the LAM, C-Risk and DANTE applications
- If time permits, assists the development team to develop new features in LAM, C-Risk and DANTE (JAVA and Oracle).

This position requires:

- 4 years minimum working in IT operations and solution development area
- Experience in the support, design, and implementation of multi-tier application platforms
- Good knowledge of Java/JavaEE development platforms and associated frameworks/platforms (EJB 3, JPA 2, JSF, Facelets, JMS)
- Experience in development, roll-out and maintenance of complex applications
- Strong communication skills and ability to deal effectively with people face to face and over the phone across different cultures and time zones (off-shore)
- Used to resolve serious incidents by staying calm and doing the needful
- Responsive to managing changing requirements and priorities
- Strong negotiation skills, both with internal as well as external clients
- In-depth knowledge of Eclipse, Subversion
- Oracle 11g and related tools (eg PL/SQL Developer)
- Weblogic server 9.x/10.x knowledge
- JUnit and Continuous Integration solutions
- Fluent written and spoken English

Preferred qualifications/experience:

- Experience working in Credit Domain of Banking Industry
- Experience working within a Matrix-managed environment
- Experience working in international projects
- Experience in application development projects run according to CMMI standards
- German and/or Italian language skills
