Java Engineer - Data Migration, Agile - Contract x2

JAVA SENIOR /LEAD ENGINEER - DAILY RATES - CONTRACT X2

These positions are 6 month contracts initially with a view to extension.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Enterprise data (LDAP/Oracle/MySQL/NOSQL) migration script(bash/Java/groovy) development, therefore in depth knowledge/experience of data migration patterns and testing techniques required.

Supervising and checking the status of projects and work assignments
-

Preparing reports for management. Preparing general and detail designs
-

Mentoring and supporting more junior members of the systems development staff
-

Proactively learn and utilize new technologies, concepts and procedures as appropriate to project requirements
-

Provides technical input to other areas and gathers technical data from outside organizations
-

Plans and executes testing and implementation of major systems
-

Establishes project plans and project management guidelines. Supports their implementation
-

Develops, implements, and tests all system implementations within customer area or within Information Technology
-

Assists the Director in strategic development approaches

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

-

Bachelor degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent experience
-

Extensive knowledge of SQL (as main task is creation of scripts to safely migrate terabytes of enterprise data with minimal system down time). Experience working with Nosql databases (eg Cassandra) is desirable.

Expertise with Scripting languages like Bash and Korn
-

Expertise with Unix/Linux
-

Expertise in software development in Java, Scala, Groovy and similar technologies
-

Expertise with single page frameworks like Bootstrap, Backbone, Angular, JavaScript, JQuery and similar technologies
-

Expertise with Agile methodologies
-

Expertise with continuous build systems and principals
-

Expertise with testing frameworks such as Jmeter, JUnit and Mockito
-

Thorough understanding of network configuration Firewalls and debugging on multi-tiered environments
-

Strong background in technologies such as Client Server, relational database management systems, object-oriented development, and distributed object development
-

Applications analysis and design experience
-

5-10 years business experience in a high technology area, 5 or more years programming and/or systems analysis experience is preferred
-

Previous experience providing program design and system development services on systems projects required
