Java Developer - Low Level Algo OMS - Real Time - Banking

Hatstand, a global financial technology consultancy, is seeking a Core Java Developer for an Equities Trading business.

A major investment bank has an opportunity for a Java Developer to join their OMS and Algo trading Equities technology group and form part of team. The client is seeing rapidly increasing trading volumes in the European equity business and is upgrading their technology to improve real time pricing, execution to keep the business at the forefront of the competition.

This role is best suited to a Java Developer with extensive experience of performance tuning and low level, near operating system programming within the investment banking sector. You will form part of a highly skilled team with a strong technical bias towards core Java who are experienced in developing software for real time, computationally intensive systems. They are looking for a highly talented coder with a solution driven approach and the experience of overcoming development and performance challenges pertaining to real time trading systems in the front office, and who can ideally assume some tech lead responsibility.

You will have very strong low level core Java coding skills and plenty of experience of low latency, highly fault tolerant distributed systems. You will also have strong knowledge of networking, data structures and demonstrate the ability to pick up new technologies quickly. Strong knowledge of garbage collection tuning and performance tuning is essential. Experience of Electronic and/or Algorithmic Trading systems development is highly desirable.
