JAVA DEVELOPER needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in SCHENECTADY, NY

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS SHOULD YOU POSSESS:

- Strong Java and SQL experience
- Experience with the following Oracle DB, Eclipse, Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, Crucible, Fisheye

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Learn and document Legacy codebase structure and architecture.
- Implement new SW features for Remote Monitoring and Diagnostics (RM&D) Tools.
- Extend Legacy Java codebase to improve current processes for asset diagnostics (analysing vehicle fault data and monitored parameters, diagnosing issues, raising issues to the attention of RM&D operators, and recommending a prescriptive course of action.
- Author new Java code to create new prognostics and vehicle health assessment capability.
- Assist in the setup of a continuous build environment with automated regression testing.
- Participate in Agile scrum meetingsdaily standups, reviews & retrospectives, and planning.
- Participate in design meetings and code reviews with project architect(s) and software development lead.
- Document design decisions and implementation approaches taken.
- Create design documentation, including Javadocs from code comments, UML Object model diagrams, sequence diagrams, process flow diagrams.
- Assist in the selection of 3rd party tools and libraries to be incorporated.
- Take responsibility for creating and executing tests validating any code developed.
- Evaluate current codebase and DB architecture. Document areas where improvements in maintainability, execution speed, and throughput can be made.
- Recommend software development tools, processes, and techniques to improve team's software quality and speed up team's ability to implement new functionality.
