Java Developer

Synergy Consulting Group is looking for a Java Developer for a 4+month contract position with a Fortune 500 company in the Pittsburgh, PA area. This position can develop into a long term contract.

Your team and area will be responsible for performing application software development for system enhancements potentially across a variety of technology platforms. You will also augment your skills on such projects as system enhancements and operational and technical support for routine and non-complex system functions for our Lines of Business (LOB) service partners.

In this position, you will develop complex application software for system enhancements and assess as well as determine design considerations including application programs. You may also modify databases, client reports, internal reports, and online presentations.

This position pays up to $60 per hour and Synergy Consulting Group also offers a great benefits package.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The candidate chosen for this position will function as a hands-on, business aligned, Application Architect working with business, vendor, and PNC enterprise solution providers, while directly working with and leading a team of software engineers to implement and develop components in support of our Payments Engine Strategy.

Other regular duties will include:

- Working with Java J2EE
- Service Oriented Architecture
- Business Critical Application Architecture design background/experience
- Hands-on Application Architect

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an IT-related field with 8+ years related experience
- Expertise/domain knowledge of high value (wire) and low value (ACH) payments
- Must be able to communicate and explain to developers why certain design patterns (GOF and Java Blueprint patterns) or other technology standards are to be leveraged in addition to using them in the design being implemented
- Expert and thorough understanding of core technologies contained within the LOB application supported
- Proficiency in JAVA, J2EE, SOA, Relational Database, ESB, BPMS, BRMS, Content Management, WebSphere, Unix/Linux Operating System, Apache Web Server
- Experienced in integrating with and developing code around vendor software packages as well as internally developed solutions and systems
- Professional experience with planning, designing, developing, and deploying production applications (multiple platforms experience preferred)
- Must be able to create Order of Magnitude estimates and detailed estimates
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- The ability to interact with all levels of management and teams (business, operational, and technical)
