Java Developer

Java Developer - Manchester - £30,000 +

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

To develop, maintain, & support applications that process, manipulate, store,

match and retrieve coded data. The data is used for many purposes for multiple large clients.

POSITION IN ORGANISATION:

Reports to the Development Java Team Leader

Direct contact with internal & external customers at a technical & project

management level, visiting other sites when required

Provide technical advice to internal customers at all levels

SCOPE OF JOB:

Full lifecycle development: maintain accountability of functionality from end

to end of the development process, ensuring quality and throughput of

development

Test driven development: through pair programming and continuous

integration, ensure the health of the project by ensuring program functionality

meets customer expectations and company quality standards

Technical design: contribute to the overall solution, architecture and design.

Provide input into the technologies used in the solution, development and

testing in an agile development environment, ensuring the provision of

necessary and desirable non-functional requirements

Communication: contribute to a good level of teamwork proactively

suggesting solutions to resolve problems. Engage in the mentoring and

development of junior level staff

Technical/commercial knowledge: actively seeking and sharing knowledge

of current development tools, programming standards and company issues

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Extensive proven ability in object orientated programming, experience of

dependency injection and agile methodologies

Practical experience using IDD's tools and utilities for example, Eclipse. JUnit

and Ant is essential.

Working knowledge of Integration technologies, protocols and Java API's

such as Web Services / XML / SOAP / JDBC / JNDI is essential

Experience of enterprise-level object orientated programming, knowledge of

multi-tier architectures with relational databases, enterprise scale application

servers including enterprise design patterns

Experience of developing solutions integrating disparate applications &

environments desirable

Communication skills - experience of communicating with application

stakeholders

SQL and relational database experience in Oracle, DB2 or MySQL is
