Java Architect, Banking, Contract in Zürich

For one of our clients, a worldwide renowned Bank based in Zürich, Swisslinx is currently looking for a Java Architect.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Influence the technical choices and solutions of a business critical system
Leverage new technologies to improve quality and reduce risk - Scala, Git, Vaadin
Work within a technically skilled and driven team including a large offshore presence
Regular business contact - direct communication with the business to help solve real problems
Opportunities to shape improvements to our production quality and deployment story
Wide ranging technical challenges on strategic projects (eg Regulatory) - both directing development and deep-dive coding as needed

YOUR PROFILE:

Technical Skills Required - with example technologies:
Wide ranging experience in varied architectures, environments and integration
Deep full-life cycle experience of project/product life cycle with experience on technical and infrastructure requirements gathering
Development management and control experience:
o Application/Library ownership
o SCM tools - Git/SVN
o Tracking tools - JIRA
o Quality tools - coverage

In-depth experience of development with:
o Oracle or similar enterprise DB
o Java - J2SE, JEE
o Build systems - Maven
o Middleware technologies - MQ/TIBCO
o Scripting languages/Unix architectures
Solution space experience:
o Multi-threading/Solutions at scale
o Web/Gui technologies - eg Vaadin/JSF/Play
o ORMs/JDBC
o Integration tools/Libraries

Soft Skills:
Team Leadership (technical or otherwise)
Communication with stakeholders/clients
Understanding of project/risk management techniques and processes (experience of working in Scrum a plus)
Ability to explain deeply technical concepts in a simple fashion
A focus on quality with a clear understanding of pragmatic delivery (including realistic deliverables)

This is a 6 months contract initially.

Start date: ideally ASAP.
