Title: Java Application Developer

Type: Contract- 6 months

Location: Tucker, GA 30085

Our client is seeking a Java Application Developer for a 6 month contract in Tucker, GA. This role will provide a senior-level contribution to a team responsible for the design, development, and implementation of critical business applications. The Java Application Developer will be the primary person responsible for project management, developing application design specifications. Experience with plant operations in the Electrical Generation industry is desired, but not required.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with the Java programming language including a thorough understanding of Object Oriented programming practices and design patterns. Experience with the Struts and Spring frameworks and Ext/JS client-side framework is desirable.

JAVA APPLICATION DEVELOPER RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Work in a collaborative development environment, providing assistance and technical guidance to other Business Analysts, Software Engineers, and other team members throughout the development life cycle.
- Manage large Enterprise System implementations on a daily basis and communicate issues to upper management.
- Design, develop, and implement high quality modifications, interfaces, conversions, and business process changes for Enterprise systems.
- Create and present project-planning documents to customer and IT director level management.
- Provide strong technical delivery skills and ensure that best practices and standards for application development are adhered to in all phases of the life cycle of the project.
- Gather and document business processes and system requirements.
- Contribute to the scheduling and coordination of the project.
- Instruct, assign, direct, and check the work of others as a part of the project team.
- Participate in hands-on code development.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Business
- Minimum 9 years of progressive experience in Custom Developed systems application programming, technical leadership, functional leadership, and project management utilizing a proven methodology
- 5+ years hands on experience developing applications using Java technology including JSP, Servlets, EXT/JS, JavaScript and JDBC, XML, XSL, XSLT, and Java based XML API's
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in custom application programming, technical leadership and project management utilizing a proven methodology
- Strong experience with Java, J2EE, Struts, Spring and multi-tier software design and development
- Strong experience with development best practices, design patterns and common frameworks
- Thorough understanding of SDLC processes and methodologies and involvement in the complete product development life cycle
- Advanced OOA/OOD techniques to design enterprise applications
- Experience with application Servers such as Sun Application Server (Glassfish),WebSphere or WebLogic
- Strong knowledge of the design and implementation relational databases, with hands-on experience with at least one of SQL Server, Sybase and/or Oracle
- Available for minimal travel to Georgia plant sites
