Inward Investment Project Officer

Annual Salary - £22,443- £28,922

Full Time - 37 hours per week

12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Based in Chelmsford County Hall

The role of Essex County Council's Enterprise Team is to contribute to the development of an internationally competitive economy for Essex where businesses of all sizes are able to start up, innovate and grow and which is a location of choice for inward investment.

The Enterprise Team works across a number of themes to maximise opportunities for businesses in Essex.

This is expressed in three Strategic Aims:

- To attract successful inward investment delivering value for the Essex economy
- To secure the retention and growth of new and existing companies in Essex
- To encourage and assist companies in Essex to trade internationally

The Inward Investment activity, INVEST Essex, aims to promote Essex as an outstanding business destination, and to enable existing and potential investors to make the most of our strategic location, thriving business environment and quality of life.

Our Inward Investment offer is proactively promoted to target geographies, sectors and companies informed by our market research, and our comprehensive service provides confidential advice and practical support to companies wanting to establish or grow within the county.

The role of Inward Investment Project Officer is key to the success of the programme, and involves co-ordination and managing delivery of a range of activities to enable investment and growth in the Essex economy.

The post holder must be very client focused and tenacious, with a high level of organisational, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills, plus the ability to work flexibly across a range of priorities, coordinating activities with team colleagues and external partners.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

- Educated to degree level, equivalent academic qualification, or equivalent relevant experience
- Have a proven working knowledge of economic development, and business support, and of the Essex economy and its key sectors
- Track record of good working relationships with private and public sector organisations, and general partnership building
- Successful project management experience and working within a project management environment
- Experience of marketing and promotional activities

The role will involve working with a range of potential and existing foreign and UK owned businesses, agents and intermediaries to help build and maintain a strong pipeline of inward investment prospects, and to convert these into projects and inward investment successes that result in investment, retention and growth in the Essex economy

Any successful applicant to this post would be appointed on a fixed term contract.
