Interim Head of Adult Social Care & Safeguarding

Our local authority client is looking for an Interim Head of Adult Social Care and Safeguarding to cover a 12 month sabbatical. The role will be key in the delivery of the council's ambition to promote people's independence and wellbeing to prevent, delay or minimize their need for formal support. You will ensure that support is provided to enable people to retain their independence and dignity and that people who use services and their carers are in control of their own care and support. You will need to ensure that services are of high quality, safe and integrated in response to the needs of the individual. You will work with NHS and other partners to shape the local market to provide integrated responses to the needs of individuals, their carers and the community.

You will be the professional lead for social work ensuring the required standards and high performance are met. The role encompasses all adult social work assessment and care management services, including Safeguarding Adults, integrated Learning Disability services - community and in-house provider, and policy and practice. You will have strong relationships with their partners including the CCG to lead the development of the 'whole system' to include strategies on prevention, recovery, rehabilitation and social inclusion.

You will be a qualified social worker and have a strong background in the senior operational management of Adult Social Care services and Safeguarding Adults, and you will be able to evidence the successful delivery of Adult Social care provision in a complex community environment. You will have extensive experience of providing leadership and direction in a large and diverse service.
