Inspection and Maintenance Engineer

The Inspection and Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the comprehensive management of multiple inspection and maintenance programs that ensure safe, reliable and cost-effective operation of the electrical distribution system. The Engineer plays a lead role in the conceptual and detail development of both new programs and modification of existing programs. This engineer is also responsible for ensuring contract performance and compliance, negotiating price agreements, and validating and approving contractor invoices. They interface with various internal support groups to develop and implement annual inspection and maintenance programs. This position is expected to apply sound and diversified knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices as well as make independent decisions concerning assigned programs. Responsibilities will include training and provision of engineering support to a variety of company personnel.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

- Developing work plans and budgets for maintenance programs
- Developing contract specifications and participating in the evaluation of vendor proposals and selection
- Communicating program requirements to managers and supervisory personnel and working with Area personnel to complete work activities
- Interfacing with contractor management
- Providing work direction and training to support staff
- Assuring programs achieve completion and financial goals
- Managing data collection and data processing activities
- Performing data and field quality audits
- Tracking and reporting program progress, unit costs, and performance measures
- Submitting annual regulatory reports
- Evaluating program effectiveness and process improvements
- Implementing technology strategies to achieve program objectives

SKILLS:

A Bachelor's Degree is required. The candidate should possess a strong understanding of the design and function of the electric distribution system, power distribution equipment, and Customer Operations work management systems. The candidate should possess strong analytical skills to evaluate a wide range of options for each program. These skills will also be required when creating specifications required for program work.
