I have an excellent opportunity for a Innovation Project Delivery Manager with engineering experience to work for a major company based in Hinckley.

12 Months Contract

We are looking for a candidate who has good technical project delivery experience in an innovation or business improvement role, in a regulated utility/engineering environment. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable project management skills as well as excellent organisational, networking, interpersonal and influencing skills.

This role will involve successfully delivering a complex innovation project to time, cost and quality constraints. Progress tracking, risk management and reporting will also be required as part of the role. Ideally the candidate will possess some experience/knowledge of the gas/utility industry and will have an understanding of the regulatory drivers and innovation funding regime relevant to Gas Distribution. A requirement of the role will be to identify and secure internal sponsorship and gain sanction approval for activities within the project and as such, good verbal and written presentation skills and ongoing stakeholder engagement will be crucial.

Job Purpose:

To successfully manage innovation projects from inception to proof of concept and onward into the business to time, cost and quality constraints.
To engage with key stakeholders in the business to facilitate implementation of successful innovation projects into business as usual processes.
To work with the business to understand key strategic challenges and identify innovation areas that provide long term value to the customer.

Key Tasks:

Lead the delivery of successful innovation projects to maximise business benefits.
Develop and maintain project plans and track progress through Key Performance Indicators.
Identify and manage project risks and issues.
Take a lead on developing the cost benefit analysis for projects.
Produce governance reports to a high standard
Contribute to the development of the current innovation project processes and tools, pulling in key knowledge from the team, customers and partners.

Must have solid interpersonal skills/communication (written and verbal) skills
Needs to work confidently .

Positively represents National Grid externally, enhancing our innovation reputation

Qualifications Required:
Educated to degree level or equivalent in Engineering/Maths/Science
PRINCE 2 (preferable) or equivalent
