Infrastructure Engineer- HyperV & Dell Experience essential

Initial 3 month contract, London

Primary Duties/ Tasks

Assisting, and reporting to the Network Manager in performing a set list of tasks/objectives, which may develop based on findings:

· Examination and QA of our existing Virtualization Infrastructure. This requires intimate knowledge of SCVMM, FoC and HyperV Manager integration, plus the latest Dell SANs. With emphasis on stability, BC, and DR scenarios and testing therein.

· Best practice checks on our Active directory Infrastructure. "Every" aspect of how windows services are delivered across our LAN and WAN, are to be looked at with emphasis on QA, and automation.

· Assist in refining configuration of Dell Powerconnect core 8xxx and 7xxx access layer switches. This will involve VLAN, QoS, LAG's etc on the latest Dell 1 and 10 Gigabit switches.

· WSUS, and SCOM are planned and likely new server installations.

· Extra Exchange Servers to form a Database availability group in conjunction with Microsoft Network Load balancing are planned server installations.

· Troubleshooting existing 10G/11G servers for any issues, specifically with the Broadcom network software control suite.

· Extra TMG servers may be deployed to form a cluster. Understanding of how certificates work in 2008r2 is key.

· Dell SAN interaction with Backup Exec and snapshot backup.

· Examine and make recommendations on how we rationalise our current spread of SQL databases.

· To assist in decommissioning any remaining 2003 GC servers.

· Advise on upgrade paths to Windows 2012, and Exchange 2013. A high level of support will be expected during the course of examination, recommendations, and any further in or out of hours implementations. The candidate will be expected to share their expertise, and knowledge in order to act as a learning resource for the ICT team. Experience/ Skills

· HyperV 2008r2 virtualisation implementations. Particularly SCVMM, FoC, HyperV Manager and how they integrate.

· Complete Windows 2008r2 Server eco system

· Active Directory - Experience of 500+ users multi-site and multi-tenant

· Expert in DNS, DHCP, Certificates/Kerberos, WSUS, and SCOM

· Highly experienced in Powershell, scripting and Automation

· Exchange 2010 complete

· Experience of deploying DAGs, MS Network load balancers

· Expert in Exchange Powershell scripting

· Strong SMTP diagnostic troubleshooting abilities

· TMG - Strong experience of certificates, and setting up TMG clusters correctly

· Dell "SAN" Infrastructure · Proven experience with 10G/11G r815 Servers

· Powerconnect 8024F, 7048P, 8132F Switches. Specifically VLAN, QoS, and RSTP, and LAG's

· Equallogic 10 gig SANs and how snapshots integrate with Symantec BE

· Dell Broadcom ten gigabit cards, drivers, and BACs software suite

· SQL. All versions of SQL, experience maintaining, setup and troubleshooting

· Windows 2003/r2 - De-commissioning of AD servers

· Windows 2012 knowledge of all of the above. i.e. Server2012, Exchange 2013

· Dell Kace K1100 & K2200 experience, Windows 8, 7, & XP.
