Infrastructure Engineer

A 6 month contract is available for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer in a 100% virtualised environment.

ROLE:

The Platform Operations Team is responsible for assisting with system design, implementation, documentation, maintenance, support, monitoring and enhancement of all Microsoft Infrastructure and End User Technologies.

Products and Technologies currently used include:

- Core infrastructure built on Cisco UCS Servers with EMC Storage in three centralised data centres;
- Distributed infrastructure built on HP Proliant Servers at approximately 75 locations around the world;
- Virtualisation technologies including VMWare ESXi 5.x for all infrastructure and Citrix XenApp 6.5 for virtualised applications;
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2008 R2 Operating Systems for all infrastructure Servers and Microsoft Windows 7 for all end user devices;
- Microsoft Server applications Including Exchange Server 2010, SharePoint Server 2010/2013
- Other Enterprise Software applications such as Symantec NetBackup, Symantec Enterprise Vau
- Security Products - RSA Authentication Manager, Forefront 2010
- Microsoft Server operating systems - Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2008 R2;
- Storage hardware and software - EMC SANs, tape libraries, archive and backup systems;
- High availability configurations such as clustering and load balancing;
- Virtualisation technologies such as VMWare vSphere and Citrix XenApp;
- Microsoft Server applications - Exchange Server 2010, SharePoint Server 2010/2013, Dynamics CRM v4;
- Security Products - RSA Authentication Manager, ForeFront 2010, Cisco Ironport email antivirus/spam filtering;
- Management and Monitoring tools - Microsoft SCOM, Microsoft SCCM 2007 and SCSM;
- Use of technologies such as Microsoft PowerShell for Scripting Automation of administration activities;
- Liaise with IT staff and internal clients to provide support, bug fixes, approved enhancements and advice on a range of information technology issues, and

AS THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE YOU WILL NEED TO DEMONSTRATE:

- Demonstrated understanding of, and enterprise experience in the support of one or more of the following technologies:
- Microsoft Windows Server operating systems and server applications;
- VMWare virtualisation technologies;
- Microsoft Active Directory;
- Server and Storage hardware technologies, and
- Enterprise Security, Business and Management solutions.
- Demonstrated commitment to service improvement and the delivery of quality outcomes.
- Sound experience in the use of Scripting, and other techniques, to automate IT processes and procedures.
- Demonstrated skills in the analysis of complex problems, and in the management and troubleshooting of high-impact incidents.
- Demonstrated experience of working in small teams with conflicting priorities.
