Situated in Mill Hill, North West London, NIMR is the largest MRC institute, supporting some 70 research groups and 500 bench scientists. The Institute provides excellent training for researchers in a multi-disciplinary environment and is equipped with state of the art facilities.

The purpose of the role will be to develop, support and maintain the public presentation of embryo image data obtained from various imaging methods via a cross-platform, standards-compliant dedicated web site.

The successful applicant will join a project funded by the Wellcome Trust up to 31st March 2018 to analyse the genetic basis for developmental disease using mouse models.  We have developed a method of imaging mouse embryos at high resolution, and are generating a considerable amount of raw image data. The post involves working as part of a small team to process the image data for display via the web, as well as maintaining the web site and associated database.

One of the immediate aims of the project is to revise and update the web interface to incorporate other types of image data produced by our collaborators, and add image annotations generated by members of the group that highlight anatomical structures and developmental defects. This will involve adding a search interface to the web site and building the associated data structures required to support the search function. The post will involve a range of programming and web development skills and liaising with other centers for data archiving.
