This role has been released on a temporary basis initially for 3 months they are looking for a HR Assistant to work in the Schools team. You will work under the day to day supervision of the Team Leader and will be required to work in a flexible and co-operative way as part of a team of HR staff, carrying out a high volume of HR administration & processing tasks in relation to the employment and conditions of service for all types of staff employed in schools, whilst maintaining accuracyand ensuring that the correct starter documentation is issued (e.g. contracts, appointment letters) in accordance with the established quality control measures.
2.Advising staff, Heads and Governors on the legal, policy or procedural requirements relating to the appointment of staff, with particular regard to contracts of employment and salary documentation.
3.Ensuring that appointment requirements in respect of qualifications, medicals and suitability (this includes carrying out disclosures in accordance with the procedures of the Disclosure and Barring Service - DBS) are carried out.
4.Where necessary checking salary assessments for locally managed schools and Academy's and carrying out salary assessments for supply teachers in line with Teachers Pay and Conditions.
5.Providing all necessary information and documentation to Payroll Services in order to initiate the payment of salary in accordance with payroll deadlines.
6.Processing of information relating to the termination of employment through resignation or retirement, including ill health or other premature retirement schemes.
7.Processing applications for maternity/adoption/paternity leave etc., and advising staff, Headteachers and Governors of appropriate entitlements and cover arrangements.
8.Checking and collating advertisements for weekly vacancy bulletins and ensuring they comply with legislative standards.
9.Maintaining appropriate document management systems and databases to meet management information requirements.
10.Dealing with enquiries via telephone, writing or in person.
11.To assist in the development & the delivery of the Administrative Workshops for school administrative staff, in order to promote the service & good practice.
12.To build good working relationships with schools and to provide a service for training new school based administrative staff, through school visits.
13.To undertake appropriate project work relating to the maintenance & development of the Intranet site and any reviews of HR administrative procedures/systems.

You must match the following criteria:

* Relevant experience in a HR environment.
* A good standard of general education, with possibly a BTEC National or equivalent qualification, and preferably supported by a (CIPD) Certificate of Personnel Practice, or other relevant qualification, relating to personnel.

If you have worked in the areas below it would be an advantage:
* BTEC National or equivalent qualification. Certificate in Personnel Practice or other relevant personnel qualification
* Previous Human Resources experience relating to Locally Managed Schools
* Experience of using IT systems relating to Human Resources, in particular Resourcelink, Capita ONE and SIMS (Schools Information Management System)
* Experience of high volume processing within a Human Resources environment
