Outsource UK Ltd are actively seeking to recruit for a contract role on behalf of a client.

THE CLIENT: WORLD LEADER IN DEFENCE MARKETS

THE JOB:

The HR Manager - Integrated Solutions, works as a key member of the HR team to provide HR support to the business and to develop HR policy, process and solutions derived from the HR strategy to meet the needs within the DI business. They will manage the HR policy and process development, and ensure that HR solutions are integrated to consider all aspects of HR - reward, ER, resourcing etc. They will lead business improvement and integration activity within the DI business.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES/KRAS

- The role is responsible for the integration of the HR processes, policies and guidance for the DI business ensuring - combing policies or creating new ones.
- Ensure policies and processes meet the requirements of the DI business and liaise as appropriate within MAI and BAES regarding any specific DI requirements
- Management & maintenance of the HR BMS for DI - reviewing policies as appropriate.
- Develop HR solutions to meet DI business requirements that integrate L&D, Reward, ER aspects of HR such that the deployment is seamless eg define and lead approach to talent management for DI
- Work with the HR Manager - Service Delivery to ensure that solutions meet the needs of the business, are effective and efficient.
- Maintain HR plan and use to inform discussion and debate on timing of HR activity and HR capabilities.
- Lead the DI Engagement and Consultation forum, including the consultation of any changes to policy/processes in DI.
- Identify and manage HR risks and opportunities
- Interface, work with and share best practice with the DIT&S and MAI HR function
- Lead HR projects within DI (and DIT&S)
- Interface between retained HR and 3rd party providers eg XHRS/AMS
- Lead systems integration activity as it impacts HR

FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE (TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE)

- Experienced HR generalist - good knowledge of all areas of HR to ensure appropriate solutions developed which work practically in the business
- Good problem solving skills
- Leadership skills - for immediate teams and also as a leader in the business.
- Organisation design and development experience essential to support development of DI business
- Consultancy skills - the ability to work with the business to understand its priorities and translate into HR priorities, plans and interventions to deliver in the business
- Sound HR knowledge to ensure appropriate governance and assurance provided and advice & guidance is offered.
- Aware of HR best practice externally as well as internally for when designing HR solutions
- Good understanding of employment law
- Project management skills - the ability & experience to lead projects in HR to cost, schedule and quality
- Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development desirable
- Financial, commercial & legal awareness to ensure HR solutions developed support business requirements
- Management of change and transition in the business
- Good understanding of business winning processes
- Experience of international HR support

BUSINESS EXPERTISE (BREADTH OF UNDERSTANDING REQUIRED IN JOB, KNOWLEDGE OF MARKET)

- Thorough understanding of DI level business strategy and key result areas so the impact of HR is understood and the HR solutions developed support these priorities.
- Understanding of the DI customer environment and political impact on the customer arena to understand how best HR activities can support the business
- Utilise business knowledge to guide the development of the HR strategy and plans to ensure solutions will support the business deliverables and assist in developing more innovate solutions.
- Work with partners, customers and suppliers eg other companies with whom we may be teaming, 3rd party suppliers eg XHRS, AMS.
- Understanding of the DITS business and awareness of MAI strategy to ensure that DI requirements are considered within overall DIT&S, MAI and corporate context.
- Good understanding of HR strategy for BAE Systems to ensure DI solutions support overall strategy.
- Understanding of competitors and their offerings to understand how best DI can differentiate its service offerings through its people solutions.
- Sound understanding and implementation of LCM knowledge
- Excellent understanding of Operational Framework

LEADERSHIP (ACCOUNTABILITY)

- HR team of 1 directly managed but needs to influence team of c10. Excellent leadership and communication skills are required to manage and influence people remotely.
- Required to mentor and direct the work of others through the projects lead. Also required to influence and call on people in other functions to support HR activity with regards to policy and process work eg involvement of employee reps, focus groups and working groups.
- All areas of HR activity lead.

PROBLEM SOLVING (BREADTH OF APPLICATION, PLANNING, ORGANISATION)

- Strong analytical skills are required to gather information from a number of sources. The ability to apply logic and lateral thought in these situations to understand and analyse the data/information presented to come up with appropriate challenge and questions. The ability to generate creative, innovative and practical solutions for the business based on the information analysed and presented to add value to the business. To review processes/procedures to ensure efficient and effective and in reducing waste in the processes.
- Many solutions will be driven by precedence but a level of challenge and creativity is needed to ensure standard solutions are not applied when they are not fit for purpose.
- The nature of the DI business generates a degree of complexity within which the solutions will need to be developed - multiple systems, interfaces, policies, processes, terms and conditions. These need to be thoroughly understood and analysed.

NATURE OF IMPACT (IMPACT ON RESULTS + IMPACT/INFLUENCE ON BUSINESS/FUNCTION

- Impact is directly felt through the delivery of the HR service in the business. Ownership of the results of the direct team and activity in wider team/working groups. Ensuring processes/policies are delivering value for money and eliminating waste is vital. Using information and analysis to ensure efficient and effective solutions are delivered that ensure value is driven through HR solutions.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

- Excellent communication and influencing skills are required to work with senior managers in the DI business and with the HR team.
- The ability to motivate the team is vital.
- Liaison and communication externally is required.
- Communication and influencing across HR function is required, plus the ability to communicate and influence 3rd party suppliers and other organisations eg XHRS, AMS.
