Major Accountabilities
*To represent and promote ophthalmology brands in the franchise, driving demand within the hospital and connecting customers to the full range of Client resources
oBuilds on business plan to develop and execute sales plans to deliver on ophthalmology strategies and meet goals and targets
oRaises awareness and builds confidence in the brands by providing up-to-date, balanced clinical and economic information
oRaises awareness of the appropriate/eligible segment of patients for treatment
oEnsures customers have a clear understanding of all the Client ophthalmology resources at their disposal
oDemonstrates deep specialist product and disease state knowledge and leverage this to build professional customer relationships and support sound medical/clinical discussions
oMakes effective use of available technologies and channels to support sales calls
oDeploys and uses Marketing and Sales promotional materials and programmes; coordinates direct promotion programmes and facilitates pull-through activities
oUses detailed knowledge of ophthalmology brands and competitor products' features and benefits during sales calls to improve sales
oEffectively allocates available resources

*To work collaboratively with the ophthalmology cross functional and/or co-promotional teams to support the maintenance of promoted brands formulary listing and funding
oCoordinates with all members of the cross functional team and/or co-promotional teams to ensure provision of evidence of economic benefits to support the value proposition and appropriate funding

*To build relationships and work effectively within a complex customer Matrix, with a key focus on clinical customers, but also managing relationships with pharmacy, business managers etc.
oDevelops and applies understanding of customer organisations and networks, and of diverse influencing factors that affect customer decisions (eg peer relationships)
oDemonstrates strong customer understanding and a consistent patient-centric approach to business activities and relationships
oAdapts and optimises approach and communications style during sales calls, responding appropriately to customer needs of the different stakeholders
oProactively identifies needs and appropriately brings in other customer-facing roles as necessary for those Trusts not requiring the full customer-facing support

*To differentiate Client as a leader in Ophthalmology
oEnsures that Client products and supporting services are broadly understood and available to more patients and customers
oDemonstrates a focus on better health outcomes (beyond acquisition), taking into account the healthcare professional and patient experience
oShares learning and best practice between customers to help them meet their needs
oShares learning and best practice within the cross-functional and/or co-promotional teams
oShares feedback gained from customer interactions with customer-facing team and broader cross-functional team to improve future customer interactions
oWorks cross-functionally to ensure alignment and coordinated planning within the local customer-facing team

Experience and Qualifications
University degree in Science or Business Marketing or equivalent
Extensive experience in pharma sales
Experience in specialty sales role in the pharma, biotech or devices industry
Sound working knowledge of the funding and approval process for product usage in hospitals
Ophthalmology therapeutic area experience desirable but not essential
Experience working with launch period product sales desirable
